Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 243:19

Khalid ibn Mirdas narrated to us, Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from al-Ajlah, he said: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Musa al-Ash'ari narrated to me—meaning from his father—he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent me to Yemen. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, there are drinks there, so what should I drink from them and what should I leave?" He said: "What are they?" I said: "Al-bit' and al-mizr." He said: "What are al-bit' and al-mizr?" I said: "Al-bit' is from honey, which ferments until it intoxicates. And al-mizr is from corn, which ferments until it intoxicates." He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then said: "Do not drink anything intoxicating, for I have forbidden every intoxicant."
