Hadith of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (RA)
Hadith 243:22
Muhammad ibn al-Khattab narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abd al-Malik narrated to us, Isra'il narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu Burdah, from Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, who said: The wife of Ibn Maz'un entered upon the wives of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and they saw her in a poor state. They said to her, "What is the matter with you? There is no man in Quraysh wealthier than your husband." She said, "We have no share of him. As for his day, he is fasting, and as for his night, he is standing in prayer." The Prophet (peace be upon him) then entered, and they mentioned that to him. The Prophet (peace be upon him) met him and said, "O Uthman, do you not have an example in me?" He said, "And what is that, O Messenger of Allah? May my father and mother be sacrificed for you." He said, "As for you, you stand at night and fast during the day. But your family has a right upon you, and your body has a right upon you. So pray and sleep, and fast and break your fast." He said: The woman came to them after that, perfumed as if she were a bride. They said to her, "What is this?" She said, "We have been afflicted by what the people have been afflicted by."
