Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 243:82

Hadith of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (RA)

Hadith 243:82

On the authority of Abu Musa, he said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was asked about things he disliked. When they persisted against him, he became angry. Then he said to the people: "Ask me about whatever you wish." A man said: "Who is my father?" He said: "Your father is Hudhafah." Another said: "Who is my father, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Your father is Salim, the freed slave of Shaybah." When Umar saw what was on the face of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) of anger, he said: "O Messenger of Allah, we repent to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic."
