Hadith of ‘Amir ibn Rabi‘ah (RA)

Hadith 238:3

Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Hisham narrated to us, 'Ammar ibn Ruzayq narrated to us, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Isa, from Umayyah ibn Hind, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amir ibn Rabi'ah, from his father, who said: I and Sahl ibn Hunayf set out seeking a place to bathe. We found a pool and a pond. One of us would be shy to bathe while another was looking at him, so he hid from me and took off a cloak that was upon him, then entered the water. I looked at him, and I struck him with an eye (the evil eye) from it. I called him, but he did not answer me. So I informed the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. He came to him and struck his chest, then said: "O Allah, remove its heat, its cold, and its pain." Then he said: "Stand up." So he stood up. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "If one of you sees in himself, or his wealth, or his brother that which pleases him, then let him invoke blessing (Barakah), for the eye is true."
