Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 210:30

Hadith of Hafsa, Mother of the Believers (RA)

Hadith 210:30

Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Rawh ibn Aslam narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, from Ayyub and Ubayd Allah ibn Umar, from Nafi’, that Ibn Umar saw Ibn Sayyad in one of the paths of Medina. Ibn Umar reviled him and spoke against him, so he swelled up until he blocked the path. Ibn Umar struck him with a stick, so he calmed down until he returned [to his normal state]. Then he swelled up again until he blocked the path. Ibn Umar struck him with a stick he had with him until he broke it upon him. Hafsa said to him, "What is your affair with him? What makes you obsessed with him? Have you not heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: 'The Dajjal will only emerge from an anger that he becomes angry with'?"
