Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 248:6

On the authority of Jabir, he said: I saw Ma'iz ibn Malik when he was brought to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, bareheaded, with no garment upon him. He testified against himself four times that he had committed adultery. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Perhaps [you only kissed or touched]?" He said: "No, by Allah, he has indeed committed adultery." The latter said: So he stoned him. Then he delivered a sermon and said: "Beware, whenever they go out in the way of Allah, one of them leaves behind for his [family] a bleating like the bleating of a goat, offering one of them a small amount of milk. If Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, gives me power over any of them, I will surely make an example of him to them."
