Hadith of Juwayriyah bint al-Harith (RA)

حديث جويرية بنت الحارث

Hadith 211:5

Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Rawh ibn 'Ubadah narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, the freed slave of the family of Talhah, who said: I heard Kurayb, the freed slave of Ibn 'Abbas, narrating from Ibn 'Abbas, from Juwayriyah bint al-Harith, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came to me in the morning while I was glorifying Allah (tasbih). Then he went away for his need, and then he returned near midday and said: "Have you remained sitting?" She said: I said: "Yes." He said: "Shall I not teach you words? If they were compared to what you have glorified, they would equal them, or if they were weighed against them, they would weigh them"—meaning all that she had glorified: 'Subhan Allah' (Glory be to Allah) to the number of His creation (three times). 'Subhan Allah' to the weight of His Throne (three times). 'Subhan Allah' to the extent of the pleasure of His Self (three times). 'Subhan Allah' to the extent of the ink of His words (three times).
