Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 237:1

Surayj ibn Yunus Abu al-Harith narrated to us, Hushaym narrated to us, from Abd al-Hamid ibn Ja'far, from his father, who said: Khalid ibn al-Walid said: "We performed Umrah with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, during an Umrah he performed. He shaved his hair, so the people raced toward his hair. I raced to the forelock and took it. I then made a cap and placed it in the front of the cap. I did not face any front [in battle] except that victory was granted to me."
