Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 245:29

Abu Ya'la informed us, he said: I found in my book from Suwayd, and I did not see upon it the mark of hearing, but upon it was "Sahih" (authentic), so I doubted it, and my strongest assumption is that I heard it from him, from Dammam ibn Isma'il al-Ma'afiri, from Abu Qubayl, who said: Mu'awiyah delivered a sermon to us on a Friday and said: "Indeed, the wealth is our wealth, and the fay' (spoils) is our fay'; we give to whom we wish and we withhold from whom we wish." No one replied to him. When the second Friday came, he said the same as his statement, and no one replied to him. When the third Friday came, he said the same as his statement. A man from those who were present in the mosque stood up to him and said: "Nay, rather the wealth is our wealth, and the fay' is our fay'; whoever stands between us and it, we will judge him with our swords." When he finished the prayer, he ordered the man to be brought in, so he was brought in to him, and he seated him with him on the couch. Then he gave permission for the people, and they entered upon him. Then he said: "O people, I spoke on the first Friday and no one replied to me, and on the second and no one replied to me. When the third came, this man revived me—may Allah revive him. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: 'There will come a people who will speak and no one will reply to them; they will tumble into the Fire like the tumbling of monkeys.' I feared that Allah would make me one of them. When this man replied to me, he revived me—may Allah revive him—and I hoped that Allah would not make me one of them."
