Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 245:37

Dawud ibn Rashid narrated to us, Abu Tumaylah narrated to us, he said: I heard Muhammad ibn Ishaq say: Nasr ibn al-Hajjaj ibn 'Ilat al-Sulami claimed 'Abd Allah ibn Rabah, the freed slave of Khalid ibn al-Walid. 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Khalid ibn al-Walid stood up and said: "My freed slave was born on the bed of my freed slave." Nasr said: "My brother, he bequeathed his house to me." Their dispute became prolonged, so they entered with him to Mu'awiyah, while Fihr was under his head. They both made their claims. Mu'awiyah said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: 'The child is for the bed, and for the adulterer is the stone.'" Nasr said: "Then where is this judgment of yours, O Mu'awiyah, regarding Ziyad?" Mu'awiyah replied: "The judgment of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) is better than the judgment of Mu'awiyah." 'Abd Allah ibn Rabah would not respond to Nasr regarding what he claimed. So Nasr said: "O Abu Khalid, take wealth like my wealth as an inheritance, And take me as a brother during times of turmoil, as a witness. O Abu Khalid, [I have] abundant wealth and a high status, And noble lineages that stir you upward. O Abu Khalid, do not make our daughters Slave-girls for Makhzum, and be compassionate. O Abu Khalid, if you fear the son of Khalid, Then al-Hajjaj did not fear Khalid. O Abu Khalid, we are neither fire nor are they Gardens in which the eyes see stagnant [water]."
