Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 218:8

Hadith of Safiyyah bint Huyayy ibn Akhtab, the wife of the Prophet (SAW), (RA)

Hadith 218:8

Wahb ibn Baqiyyah narrated to us, Khalid informed us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Ishaq, from al-Zuhri, from Ali ibn al-Husayn, who said: Safiyyah bint Huyayy, the wife of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), narrated to me, saying: I came to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and spoke with him while he was in *i'tikaf* (seclusion) in the mosque. He stood up with me one night to escort me to my house. Two men from the Ansar met him, and when they saw him, they felt shy and turned back. He said: "Come here, for she is Safiyyah, the wife of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)." They said: "We seek refuge in Allah, glory be to Allah!" He said: "I am only saying this to you so that you do not harbor evil thoughts, for I know that the devil flows through the son of Adam like the flowing of blood."
