Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 67:1

Sa'id ibn 'Abd al-Jabbar narrated to us, al-Mughirah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Khalid ibn Hizam al-Hizami narrated to us, Abu al-Zinad narrated to us, that Muhammad ibn Hamzah narrated to him, from his father, Hamzah al-Aslami, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) sent him on a military expedition and appointed him over them. He said: "If you capture so-and-so, then burn him with fire." When I turned away, they called me from behind me, so I came. He said: "If you capture so-and-so, then kill him and do not burn him with fire, for no one punishes with fire except the Lord of the fire."
