Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 129:119

Humayd al-Tawil from Anas bin Malik (RA)

Hadith 129:119

Zuhayr narrated to us, Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, Humayd informed us, from Anas, that Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf migrated to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, established brotherhood between him and Sa'd ibn al-Rabi'. Sa'd ibn al-Rabi' said to him, "O Abd al-Rahman, I am among the wealthiest of the Ansar, and I will divide my wealth with you. I have two wives, so I will divorce one of them for you, and when her waiting period ends, marry her." Abd al-Rahman said to him, "May Allah bless you in your family and your wealth, but show me the market." So he showed him [the way]. He did not return that day until he had acquired some clarified butter and dried yogurt, having made a profit from it. He remained for some days, then he passed by the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he saw the traces of yellow [perfume] on him. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "What is this?" He said, "I have married, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Whom?" He said, "A woman from the Ansar." He said, "What did you give as a dowry?" He said, "A date-stone's weight of gold." He said, "Give a wedding feast, even if with a sheep."
