Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 129:39

Humayd al-Tawil from Anas bin Malik (RA)

Hadith 129:39

And through the same chain from Anas, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Do not be amazed by the deed of anyone until you see how he ends, for the worker may work for a period of his time doing a righteous deed—if he were to die, he would enter Paradise—then he changes and performs an evil deed. And indeed, the servant may work for a period of his time doing an evil deed—if he were to die, he would enter the Fire—then he changes and performs a righteous deed. And if Allah intends good for a servant, He employs him before his death." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, and how does He employ him?" He said: "He grants him success in performing a righteous deed, then He takes his soul."
