Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 129:49

Humayd al-Tawil from Anas bin Malik (RA)

Hadith 129:49

Narrated to us Wahb, informed us Khalid, from Humayd, from Anas, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said on the day he went out to Badr: He consulted the people, and he consulted the Muslims. Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) gave him advice, but he remained silent. Then he consulted, and Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) gave him advice. A man from the Ansar said: "He only wants you." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, do not say as the Children of Israel said: 'So go, you and your Lord, and fight; indeed, we are sitting right here.' But by Allah, if you were to strike their flanks to Bark al-Ghimad, we would be with you."
