Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 110:1

Abu Ya’la Ahmad ibn Ali ibn al-Muthanna al-Mawsili informed us, Hudba narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salama narrated to us, from Ali ibn Zayd, from Abu Nadra, who said: I heard Ibn Abbas delivering a sermon on the pulpit of Basra. He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There was no prophet except that he had a supplication which he hastened in the world, and I have hidden my supplication as an intercession for my nation on the Day of Resurrection. I am the master of the children of Adam, and it is no boast. I am the first for whom the earth will split open, and it is no boast. In my hand will be the Banner of Praise, and Adam and those below him will be under my banner, and it is no boast. The Day of Resurrection will be prolonged for the people and will become intense, until some of them say to others: 'Let us go to Adam, the father of mankind, so that he may intercede for us with your Lord, that He may judge between us.' They will go to Adam and say: 'O Adam, intercede for us with your Lord, that He may judge between us.' Adam will say: 'I am not for that; I was expelled from Paradise because of my sin, and today nothing concerns me except myself. But go to Nuh (Noah).' They will say: 'O Nuh, intercede for us with your Lord, that He may judge between us.' He will say: 'I am not for that; I made a supplication that drowned the people of the earth, and today nothing concerns me except myself. But go to Ibrahim (Abraham), the Friend of the Most Merciful.' They will come to Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and say: 'O Ibrahim, intercede for us with your Lord, that He may judge between us.' He will say: 'I am not for that; I told three lies in Islam: his saying "I am sick," his saying "Rather, this great one of them did it," and his saying to the king when he passed by him.' The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'By Allah, he did not intend by them anything but the honor of the religion of Allah. Today nothing concerns me except myself. But go to Musa (Moses), a servant whom Allah chose for His message and spoke to.' They will come to Musa and say: 'O Musa, intercede for us with your Lord, that He may judge between us.' He will say: 'I am not for that; I killed a soul, and today nothing concerns me except myself. But go to Isa (Jesus), the Spirit of Allah and His Word.' They will come to Isa and say: 'O Isa, intercede for us with your Lord, that He may judge between us.' He will say: 'I am not for that; I was taken as a god besides Allah, and today nothing concerns me except myself. Do you see, if there were goods in a sealed container, would one be able to reach what is inside until the seal is broken?' They will say: 'No.' He will say: 'Then Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), is the Seal of the Prophets, and he has arrived, and Allah has forgiven him his past and future sins.' They will come to me and say: 'O Muhammad, intercede for us with your Lord, that He may judge between us.' I will say: 'I am for it,' until Allah gives permission to whom He wills and is pleased with. When Allah intends to judge between His creation, a caller will call: 'Where is Ahmad and his nation? Where is Ahmad and his nation?' So they will come. We are the first and the last; the last to be resurrected and the first to be brought to account. The nations will clear the path for us, and we will proceed, bright and radiant from the traces of purification. The nations will say: 'This nation is almost all prophets.'"
