The Musnad of Ibn Abbas (RA)

Hadith 110:236

Zuhayr narrated to us, Jarir narrated to us, from al-A’mash, from Abu Zabyan, who said: Ibn Abbas said: "Which of the two recitations do you consider the first recitation?" They said: "The recitation of Abdullah [ibn Mas'ud]." He said: "Our recitation is the first recitation, and the recitation of Abdullah is the last recitation. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to have the Quran presented to him every Ramadan once. When it was the year in which he passed away, it was presented to him twice. So Abdullah witnessed it, and he witnessed what was abrogated of it and what was replaced."
