Zuhayr narrated to us, Hisham narrated to us, Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, from Simak, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, from the Prophet (peace be upon him), who said: "There is no *tiyarah* (superstitious omen), no *adwa* (contagion), no *hamah* (owl/superstition regarding the dead), and no *safar* (superstition regarding the month of Safar)." A man said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, we take a sheep with mange and put it among the sheep, and it gives them mange." He said, "Then who infected the first one?"
