Hadith 110:31
Muhammad ibn Mansur al-Tusi narrated to me, Abu Ahmad al-Zubayri narrated to us, Abd al-Salam ibn Harb narrated to us, from Ata ibn al-Sa’ib, from Sa’id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, who said: When "May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he" (Surah al-Masad) was revealed, the wife of Abu Lahab came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, while Abu Bakr was with him. When Abu Bakr saw her, he said, "O Messenger of Allah, she is a foul-mouthed woman, and I fear that she might harm you, so if you would stand up..." He said, "She will not see me." She said, "O Abu Bakr, your companion has satirized me." He said, "And what does he say? Poetry?" She said, "You are truthful in my estimation," and she turned away. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, she did not see you?" He said, "An angel did not cease to shield me from her with his wing."
