Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 110:97

Muhammad ibn Bakkar narrated to us, Ibn Abi al-Zinad narrated to us, from his father, from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad, who said: I heard Ibn Abbas say: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performed the *li'an* (oath of condemnation) between the two brothers of Banu 'Ajlan, or between a man and a woman—'Abd al-Rahman was in doubt. He said: Her husband said, "By Allah, I have not approached her since we *'afarna*." And *'afr* is when the palm trees are watered after being left without water for two months after the wells. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "O Allah, clarify, clarify." He said: The woman's husband was reddish-haired, with thin arms and shins. He said: The one she was accused with was Ibn al-Sahma'. He said: She came with a black boy, with curly, knotted hair, thick arms, and fleshy shins. Ibn Shaddad said: "O Abu al-Abbas, is she the woman about whom the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, 'If I were to stone anyone without evidence, I would have stoned her'?" Ibn Abbas said: "No. That was a woman who had committed open indecency in Islam." Another man said: "O Abu al-Abbas, what was the description?" Ibn Abbas said: "She brought him forth according to the evil description."
