Narrated to us Ishaq ibn Abi Isra'il, narrated to us Hammad, from 'Amr, from Jabir, who said: When the verse "He is the One capable of sending upon you a punishment from above you" was revealed, he said: "I seek refuge in Your Face." [He said:] "Or from beneath your feet," he said: "I seek refuge in Your Face." [He said:] "Or to confuse you into sects," he said: "This is easier."
