Al-Qawariri narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, from ‘Amr, from Jabir, who said: My father died and left behind seven daughters or nine daughters—Hammad said: I do not know it except that he said nine—so I married a previously married woman. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me: "Have you married, O Jabir?" I said: "Yes." He said: "A virgin or a previously married woman?" I said: "A previously married woman." He said: "Why not a young girl whom you could play with and she could play with you?" or he said: "Whom you could make laugh and she could make you laugh?" I said: "‘Abdullah died and left behind nine daughters, and I disliked bringing them someone like them, so I wanted a woman who would look after them." He said: "May Allah bless you," or he said: "Good."
