Hadith 108:31
Abu al-Rabi' narrated to us, Ya'qub narrated to us, 'Isa bin Jariyah informed us, from Jabir, who said: My father used to lead the people of Quba in prayer. He began a long surah, and a young man from the Ansar entered the prayer with him. When he heard that he had begun a long surah, the young man turned away from his prayer, for he wanted to tend to a camel of his that he used for irrigation. When Ubayy bin Ka'b finished, the people said to him, "So-and-so turned away from the prayer." Ubayy became angry and went to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, to complain about the young man. Then the young man came to complain about him to him. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, became angry, until the anger was seen on his face. Then he said: "Indeed, among you are those who drive people away. So when you pray, be brief, for behind you are the weak, the elderly, the sick, and those with needs."
