Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 108:38

Narrated to us Abd al-A’la, narrated to us Hammad, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Whoever revives dead land, then for him is a reward in it. And whatever the 'afiyah—meaning the birds and the beasts of prey—eats from it, then it is for him a charity."
