Hadith 108:93

Ja'far ibn Mihran al-Sabbak narrated to us, 'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us, from Haram ibn 'Uthman, from Mahmud ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Amr ibn al-Jamuh, from Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah, who said: We bought a cow during the time of the Prophet of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, so that we might share it. It escaped from us and became difficult for us to control. A freed slave of ours, who was called Dhakwan, approached it with a sword in his hand while it was roaming about in the rocky ground, heading toward a mound. When it passed by him, he struck it with the sword at the base of its neck, or upon its neck, and he pierced it with the sword. It fell, and he did not manage to slaughter it properly. I and 'Abd Allah ibn Thabit ibn al-Jidh' went out and met the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and we mentioned its affair to him. He said: "Eat it. If anything of these animals escapes from you, then restrain it by that with which you restrain wild animals."
