Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 65:5

Jundub ibn Sufyan, a man from Bajilah, narrated to me, saying: I was with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) when a bearer of good news came to him from a detachment he had sent out. He informed him of the victory Allah had granted his detachment and the conquest Allah had opened for them. He mentioned the like of it, and added to it: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said at that time: "There will be tribulations after me like pieces of the dark night; they will strike like the striking of snakes and the bulls of the herd. A man will wake up in them a believer and go to sleep a disbeliever, and he will go to sleep in them a believer and wake up a disbeliever." A man from the Muslims said: "So what should we do at that time, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Enter your houses and make your mention obscure." A man from the Muslims said: "What if one of us is entered upon in his house?" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Let him restrain his hand, and let him be the servant of Allah who is killed, and let him not be the servant of Allah who kills. For a man may be in the dome of Islam, yet he consumes the wealth of his brother, sheds his blood, disobeys his Lord, and disbelieves in his Creator, and Hell becomes incumbent upon him."
