Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 98:1

Zahmūyah narrated to us, Ṣāliḥ narrated to us, Abū Janāb Yaḥyā ibn Abī Ḥayyah narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Laylā, from a man, from his father, who said: A man came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said: "My brother is in pain." He said: "What is your brother's pain?" He said: "He is afflicted with madness (lamam)." He said: "Send him to me." He said: So he came to him and sat before him. He said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, recited over him the Opening of the Book (al-Fātiḥah), four verses from the beginning of Sūrat al-Baqarah, two verses from its middle—"Allah! There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence" (al-Baqarah)—until he finished the verse, and the Verse of the Throne (Āyat al-Kursī) (al-Baqarah), and three verses from the end of Sūrat al-Baqarah. And a verse from the beginning of Sūrat Āl ʿImrān: "Allah witnesses that there is no deity except Him, and [so do] the angels and those of knowledge—[that He is] maintaining [creation] in justice" (Āl ʿImrān)—to the end of the verse. And a verse from Sūrat al-Aʿrāf: "Indeed, your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and the earth" (al-Aʿrāf). And a verse from Sūrat al-Muʾminūn: "So exalted is Allah, the Sovereign, the Truth; there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Noble Throne" (al-Muʾminūn). And a verse from Sūrat al-Jinn: "And [it is] that exalted is the nobleness of our Lord; He has not taken a wife or a son" (al-Jinn). And ten verses from the beginning of Sūrat al-Ṣaff, three verses from the end of Sūrat al-Ḥashr, "Say, 'He is Allah, [who is] One,'" and the two verses of seeking refuge (al-Muʿawwidhatayn).
