The narration of Khalid (RA) from the Prophet (SAW)
Hadith 21:1
Abu Talib ‘Abd al-Jabbar ibn ‘Asim narrated to us, Abu al-Malih al-Raqqi narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Khalid, from his father, from his grandfather—who had companionship [with the Prophet]—that he went out to visit one of his brothers, but he did not reach him until it reached him that he was ill. When he entered upon him, he said: "Have I come to you as a visitor, or have I come to you as one visiting the sick, or as a bearer of glad tidings?" He said: "How did you combine all of this?" He said: "I went out while intending to visit you, but I did not reach you until your ailment reached me, so it became a visit to the sick. And I bring you glad tidings of something I heard from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)." He said: "When a station is decreed for a servant from Allah that he does not reach by [his] deeds, He tests him in his body, or in his wealth, or in his children, then He gives him patience until he attains the station that was decreed for him from Allah, the Mighty and Majestic."
