Qatadah from Anas (RA)

Hadith 115:201

Muhammad ibn Mahdi narrated to us, Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar informed us, from Thabit, Qatadah, and Aban—all of them from Anas, who said: When wine was prohibited, he said: "I was serving eleven men on that day." He said: "So they ordered me, and I overturned it, and the people overturned their vessels with what was in them, until the streets were almost obstructed by its scent." Anas said: "And their wine on that day was nothing but unripe dates and dried dates mixed together." He said: "Then a man came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said: 'I had the wealth of an orphan, and I bought wine with it. Do you permit me to sell it so that I may return the wealth to the orphan?'" He said: "The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: 'May Allah fight the Jews; the fat was prohibited for them, so they sold it and consumed its price.' And he did not permit him to sell the wine."
