Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 115:293

Qatadah from Anas (RA)

Hadith 115:293

Ubayd Allah narrated to us, Khalid ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Hisham narrated to us—if Allah wills, it is thus—he said: From Qatadah, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: The people asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, until they pressed him with questioning. So he said: "Do not ask me about anything except that I will clarify it for you." Then a man stood up—who, when he disputed, would be attributed to someone other than his father—and said: "O Messenger of Allah, who is my father?" He said: "Your father is Hudhafah." Then Umar ibn al-Khattab stood up and said: "We are pleased with Allah as Lord, with Islam as a religion, and with Muhammad as a Messenger. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of the tribulations." He said: So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "I have never seen the likes of today in terms of good and evil. Indeed, Paradise and Hell were depicted before me."
