Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 115:91

Qatadah from Anas (RA)

قتادة عن أنس

Hadith 115:91

Ubayd Allah ibn Umar narrated to us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, he said: Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Anas ibn Malik: This verse was revealed to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: "Indeed, We have given you a clear conquest" (Al-Fath: 1). The return from the conquest was from Al-Hudaybiyyah. It was revealed while he and his companions were overcome with sadness, and they had been prevented from their rites, and they had slaughtered the sacrificial animals at Al-Hudaybiyyah. When this verse was revealed, he said to his companions: "A verse has been revealed to me that is better than the whole world." When the Prophet of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, recited it, a man from the people said: "Congratulations and pleasantness, O Prophet of Allah! Allah has made clear to us what He will do with you, so what will He do with us?" Then Allah revealed after it: "That He may admit the believing men and the believing women to gardens beneath which rivers flow" (Al-Fath: 5).
