Hadith 6:123

Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Ya'qub ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, he said: I heard my father narrating from Muhammad ibn 'Ikrimah, from Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Labibah, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, from Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas: That the owners of farms in the time of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) used to lease their farms for what was on the water channels of the crops, and what was watered by the water from around the well. So they came to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and disputed regarding some of that. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) forbade them from leasing in that manner and said to them: "Lease for gold and silver."
