Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 6:38

Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, al-Hajjaj ibn Artah narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Ubayd al-Bahrani, from Muhammad ibn Sa’d, who said: He used to perform ablution with a water skin. He said: So he came out from the privy, and he performed ablution and wiped over his leather socks. We were amazed by that, so we asked him about it. He said: My father narrated to me that he saw the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, do the same as this.
