Hadith 6:47
Suwayd ibn Sa'id narrated to us, Abu Bakr ibn 'Ayyash narrated to us, from 'Asim, from Mus'ab ibn Sa'd, from his father, who said: When the day of Badr arrived, I brought a sword with me and said, "O Messenger of Allah, this sword has healed my chest (i.e., satisfied my desire for vengeance), so grant it to me." He said, "This sword is neither yours nor mine." So I went out saying, "Perhaps he will give it to someone whose trial was not like my trial." Then the messenger of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to me and said, "Answer (the call)." I thought that something had been revealed regarding my words. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then said, "You asked me for it when it was not mine, but Allah has now granted it to me, so it is yours."
