Hadith 96:1

Zahmūyah narrated to us, Ṣāliḥ narrated to us, Ḥājib—meaning Ibn ʿUmar—narrated to us, he said: I entered with al-Ḥakam al-Aʿraj upon Bakr ibn ʿAbd Allāh, and they discussed the matter of the deceased being punished by the weeping of the living. Bakr narrated to us, he said: A man from the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) narrated to us, and Abū Hurayrah had differed with him regarding that. He said: Abū Hurayrah said, "By Allah, if a man were to set out as a warrior in the path of Allah, then be killed as a martyr in some region of the regions of the earth, and then a woman were to act out of foolishness or ignorance and weep over him, this martyr would certainly be punished by the weeping of this foolish woman over him." A man said, "The Messenger of Allah spoke the truth, and Abū Hurayrah lied. The Messenger of Allah spoke the truth, and Abū Hurayrah lied."
