Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 252:12

Sahl ibn Sa‘d al-Sa‘idi from the Prophet (SAW)

Hadith 252:12

Ishaq narrated to us, Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar informed us, from Abu Hazim, from Sahl ibn Sa'd, who said: I heard him narrating that a woman came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and gifted herself to him. He remained silent. Then she offered herself to him again, and he remained silent. I saw her standing for a long time, or he said: for a while, offering herself to him while he was silent. Then a man stood up—I think he said: from the Ansar—and said: "If you have no need for her, then marry her to me." He said: "Do you have anything?" He said: "No, by Allah, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Go and seek something, even if it is a ring of iron." He went, then returned and said: "By Allah, I did not find anything except this garment of mine; I will split it between myself and her." The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "What is in your garment is not enough for you."
