Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 252:13

Sahl ibn Sa‘d al-Sa‘idi from the Prophet (SAW)

Hadith 252:13

Ishaq ibn Abi Isra'il narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Abu Hazim, who heard Sahl ibn Sa'd saying among the people: I was with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, when a woman stood up and said: "She has gifted herself to you, so give your opinion regarding her." A man from the people stood up to him and said: "Marry her to me." He did not reply to him with anything. Then she said: "She has gifted herself to you." A man stood up and said: "Marry her to me." Then he stood up a third time and said: "Do you have anything?" He said: "No." He said: "Go and seek." He said: "So he went and sought, then said: 'I did not find anything.'" He said: "Go and seek, even if it is a ring of iron." He said: "So he went, then returned and said: 'I did not find anything.'" He said: "Do you have anything of the Quran with you?" He said: "Yes, such-and-such a surah and such-and-such a surah." He said: "Go, for I have married her to you for what you have of the Quran."
