Abu Musa Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, Yahya ibn Muhammad ibn Qays narrated to us, he said: I heard al-Ala’ ibn Abd al-Rahman narrating from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "The sign of the hypocrite is three, even if he fasts, prays, and claims that he is a Muslim: when he speaks, he lies; when he is entrusted, he betrays; and when he promises, he breaks it."
