Hadith 160:79
Narrated to us Abd al-A’la, narrated to us Khalid ibn Abdullah, from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih, from Sa’id ibn Yasar, from Zayd ibn Khalid, from Abu Talhah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or statues." He said: So we said, "Let us go to Aisha," and we informed her of what Abu Talhah had said. She said: "I do not know, but I will tell you what I saw him do. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) went out on one of his military expeditions, and I was waiting for his return. I took a patterned cloth that we had and covered the alcove with it. When he arrived, I stood up and said, 'Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah. Praise be to Allah who has honored you, granted you victory, and favored you.'" She said: "He raised his head and looked at the cloth, but he did not reply to me with anything, and I recognized the dislike on his face. He went forward until he tore down the cloth, then he said: 'O Aisha, Allah has not commanded us, regarding what He has provided us, to clothe stones and mud bricks.'" She said: "So I took it and made it into a cushion, and I stuffed it with palm fibers, and he did not criticize me for that."
