Hadith 145:4
Ghassan narrated to us, from Hammad, from Shu'ayb ibn al-Habhab, from Anas ibn Malik, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was brought a tray upon which were fresh dates. He said: "‘The likeness of a good word is as a good tree, its root is firmly fixed, and its branches are in the sky, giving its fruit at all times, by the permission of its Lord’ (14:24-25)." He said: "It is the date palm." And: "‘The likeness of an evil word is as an evil tree, uprooted from the surface of the earth, having no stability’ (14:26)." He said: "It is the colocynth." Shu'ayb said: "I informed Abu al-'Aliyah of that, and he said: 'That is how we used to hear it.'"
