Al-Hasan ibn ‘Umar ibn Shaqiq al-Jarmi narrated to us, Ja‘far narrated to us, from Thabit, who said: I think it is from Anas, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) entered upon a man from the Ansar to visit him, and he found him in the state of death. He greeted him and said, "How do you find yourself, O so-and-so?" He said, "I am well, O Messenger of Allah. I hope in Allah and I fear my sins." The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, "They do not gather in the heart of a man at this station except that Allah gives him what he hopes for and secures him from what he fears."
