Qatan ibn Nusayr Abu 'Abbad narrated to us, Ja'far narrated to us, from Thabit, from Anas, who said: Thabit ibn Qays ibn Shammas was the orator of the Ansar. When this verse was revealed: "O you who have believed, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet or be loud to him in speech like the loudness of some of you to others," Thabit said: "I am the one who used to raise my voice above the voice of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and I am among the people of the Fire." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Rather, he is among the people of Paradise. Rather, he is among the people of Paradise."
