Thabit al-Bunani from Anas (RA)
Hadith 117:165
Abu Bakr ibn Zanjawayh narrated to us, Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar informed us, from Thabit, Qatadah, and Aban, all of them from Anas, who said: When wine was prohibited, I was at that time serving eleven men. He said: So they ordered me, and I overturned it, and the people overturned their vessels with what was in them, until the streets were almost blocked by its odor. Anas said: Their wine at that time was nothing but unripe dates and dried dates mixed together. He said: A man came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said: "I had the wealth of an orphan, and I bought wine with it. Do you think I should sell it and return the wealth to the orphan?" The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "May Allah fight the Jews; fats were prohibited for them, so they sold them and consumed their prices." And the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, did not permit him to sell the wine.
