Hadith 117:188
I was the cupbearer for the people in the house of Abu Talhah on the day alcohol was prohibited. Their drink on that day was *al-fadikh* (a mixture of) unripe dates and dried dates. Among them were men from the companions of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). Then a caller called out, and he said to me, "Go out and look." So I went out, and there was a caller calling out, "Indeed, alcohol has been prohibited." He said: So it was flowing in the streets of Medina. I came and informed Abu Talhah. He said, "Go out and pour it away." Some of the people said, "So-and-so and so-and-so were killed while it was in their stomachs." Then Allah revealed: "There is no sin upon those who believe and do righteous deeds for what they have consumed..." (the verse).
