Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 117:195

Harim ibn ‘Abd al-A‘la narrated to us, Mu‘tamir ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from Sulayman ibn al-Mughirah, Thabit narrated to us, from Anas, from Mahmud ibn al-Rabi‘, from ‘Itban ibn Malik, who said: I met ‘Itban after that, and he narrated to me, and it pleased me, so I said to my son, "Write it down," and he wrote it down. ‘Itban said—and his eyesight had gone—"I said, 'O Prophet of Allah, if you would come to me and pray in my house in a place I would take as a mosque.' He said, 'So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came, and he began to pray, and his companions began to talk among themselves.'" He said, "Then we mentioned the harm they were receiving from the hypocrites, and they placed the gravity of that upon Malik ibn Dukhshum. It would have pleased them if they could have urged the Prophet (ﷺ) to pray against him so that Allah would destroy him. They said, 'O Prophet of Allah, his affair is such and such.' The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'Does he not testify that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah?' They said, 'He only says that with his tongue, and it has no reality in his heart.' The Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) said, 'No one testifies that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah, such that Allah would enter him—or he said: such that the Fire would feed upon him—ever.'" Mu‘tamir said: My father said, "I heard it from Anas, and I have not narrated it to anyone."
