Zuhayr narrated to us, Yazid bin Harun narrated to us, Humayd informed us, from Thabit, from Anas, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) fasted continuously at the end of the month, and some people also fasted continuously. That reached the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), so he said: "If the month had been extended for us, I would have fasted continuously in a way that would have made those who go to extremes abandon their extremism. You are not like me; I spend the night while my Lord feeds me and gives me drink."
