Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 2:104

Al-Harith ibn Miskin al-Misri narrated to us, Abdullah ibn Wahb narrated to us, Hisham ibn Sa’d informed us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from his father, from Umar ibn al-Khattab, from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, who said: Moses said, "O Lord, our father Adam caused us and himself to be expelled from Paradise." So Allah showed Adam to him, and he said to him, "Are you Adam?" Adam said to him, "Yes." He said, "Are you the one whom Allah breathed into from His spirit, made His angels prostrate to, and taught you all the names?" He said, "Yes." He said, "Then what compelled you to cause us and yourself to be expelled from Paradise?" Adam said to him, "Who are you?" He said, "I am Moses." He said, "Are you Moses of the Children of Israel, whom Allah spoke to from behind a veil, and did not place between you and Him a messenger from His creation?" He said, "Yes." He said, "Then do you blame me for a matter that the decree of Allah had already preceded before me?" The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said at that: "So Adam refuted Moses, so Adam refuted Moses."
