Hadith 2:13
Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Ubayd, who said: I witnessed the Eid with Umar. He began with the prayer before the sermon, then said: "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade fasting on these two days. As for the day of al-Adha, you eat from your sacrifice, and as for the day of al-Fitr, it is your breaking of your fast." He said: And I witnessed it with Uthman, and he began with the prayer before the sermon. That coincided with a Friday, so he said: "Indeed, this is a day in which two Eids have gathered. Whoever is here from the people of the high lands (al-Awali), we have given him permission; if he wishes to return, let him return, and whoever likes to stay, let him stay." Then I witnessed it with Ali, and he began with the prayer before the sermon and said: "Let none of you eat from his sacrifice beyond three days."
