Hadith 2:46
Ubayd Allah ibn Umar narrated to us, Mu'adh ibn Hisham narrated to us, my father narrated to me, from al-Hajjaj ibn Artah, from Musa ibn Talhah, from Yazid ibn al-Hutakiyyah, that Umar ibn al-Khattab said: "Who witnessed the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, when the Bedouin came to him with a rabbit? A man from the people said: 'I did.' The Bedouin had brought it, having cleaned it and prepared it, offering it as a gift to the Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: 'Eat.' A man from the people said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I saw it bleeding.' So the people ate, but the Bedouin did not eat. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to him: 'Will you not eat?' He said: 'I am fasting.' He said: 'Then why not the eggs?'"
