Hadith 209:65
Ibrahim ibn al-Hajjaj, Hudbah ibn Khalid, Hawtharah ibn Ashras, Ali ibn al-Ja'd, and 'Abd al-A'la ibn Hammad al-Narsi narrated to us, they said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Abu al-'Ushara' al-Darimi, from his father, who said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, is the slaughtering (dhabh) not except in the throat or the base of the neck (al-labbah)?" He said: "Yes, if you were to stab it in its thigh, it would suffice for you." And in the hadith of Hawtharah: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, if you were to stab it in its thigh, it would suffice for you."
